COMPASSIONATE RELEASE

PROTASS LAW PLLC

OUR PHILOSOPHY

We take full advantage of the First Step Act's changes to the rules relating to compassionate release and do everything in our power to achieve sentence reductions for individuals who have served long prison terms and for whom continued confinement can no longer be reasonably justified on moral or utilitarian grounds.

WHAT IS COMPASSIONATE RELEASE?

Compassionate release -- introduced into law by the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 and modified by the First Step Act in December 2018 (and codified at 18 U.S.C. § 3582(c)(1)(A)) – permits any federal defendant to petition his/her sentencing judge for a sentence reduction based on any combination of "extraordinary and compelling reasons" for a sentence reduction, such as medical conditions, COVID-19, family circumstances, rehabilitation, sentence length,  unwarranted sentencing disparity

"THE PAPERS PRESENTED ON THIS MOTION WERE SOME OF THE BEST PAPERS I'VE EVER SEEN."
